This time around, Cole requested a dinosaur:
And I tried my hand at an alien of my own:
I might just have to play around with that one a bit more…
This past weekend I went to Comicpalooza, and had an amazing time. Definitely looking forward to what next year’s con has to offer…
The biggest thrill for me was getting the chance to meet a number of artists I’d followed for years, and in a couple cases get them to draw something for me:
Still kicking myself for not asking David Mack for a sketch – have to take care of that next time!
So, a couple weeks ago I fired up my geriatric tablet PC and started to doodle while the kiddos watched a movie. Both of them were pretty interested in what was going on, so I asked Cole what I should draw and he and I came up with the picture below:
And McKenna took a swing at it herself:
I don’t draw nearly as much as I used to, so needless to say the whole thing was pretty fun to do. Hopefully we can make this a semi-regular thing and I can post the results when I get a chance.
The nitty gritty, for those that care:
Thanks to a rash of WordPress hacking going on this weekend, I finally had to get around to updating the software running this part of the site. So far things are looking okay, but I’m sure there’s lots of little stuff that has yet to be dealt with.
Ah, the joys of technology…
The hurricane, that is. 😉
This is just a quick post to let folks know that we’re all okay and slowly getting things back to :quote:normal:unquote: (or at least what passes for normal around here). Listening to/watching the news, we came off way better than a lot of folks. Our electricity was turned back on last night, we had enough water pressure for baths/showers Sunday night, and the cool front couldn’t have come at a better time.
Apparently Cole is a Bull Elephant. Who knew?
Having fun with our new :quote:toy:unquote:, a Flip video camera. The price was right and so far it’s working out nicely.
Yesterday I was about to toss an old phone book into the recycle bin when I thought I’d have a little fun with McKenna. I showed her the thick book and asked her if she thought she could rip it in half. Wide-eyed, she said she couldn’t, but when I asked her if she wanted to try anyway she decided to give it a go. She spent only a second or two trying to do it the “strong man” way (ripping through all the pages), and then proceeded to open the book to the center pages and tear it down the length of the spine. 😯
Needless to say that’s the way I was planning to do it once she’d given up on doing it the “normal” way. How cool is that? Gotta love the way a 4 1/2 year old’s mind works. Amazing… 😀
Just when you thought it was safe to go to the mail box!
I heard about Monster By Mail a little while back, but I never could come up with an idea for a monster that I thought would look cool. Finally I gave in a week or so ago, and here’s the end result:
You can even watch the artist in action. How cool is that? 😀
